OUR INSTRUCTORS

Jana MacGregor

B.Sc., B.Ed., M.Ed.
Certified STOTT PILATES® Instructor

Movement and the study of the human body have always been important to Jana. As a child, Jana was passionate about dance and she trained and performed with the DancEast Young Company in Moncton, New Brunswick. After high school, she completed a bachelor’s degree in Anatomical Sciences at McGill University and continued her dance studies in the professional training program at The School of Toronto Dance Theatre. Jana was introduced to STOTT PILATES® while attending The School of Toronto Dance Theatre. She noticed that she felt stronger and more in control and aware of her body when practicing Pilates. After completing her training at The School of Toronto Dance Theatre, Jana worked professionally with independent choreographers and dance companies in Toronto including DesRosiers Dance Theatre and the Danny Grossman Dance Company. To complement her dance training, Jana decided to train to become a pilates instructor as well, and in 2000 she was certified by Stott Pilates in Matwork and Reformer.

Jana is now a fully certified Stott Pilates instructor having completed the training in Matwork, Reformer, Cadillac, Chairs, and Barrels and Injuries and Special Populations. Jana is also a STOTT PILATES Instructor Trainer for Matwork and Reformer. Additionally, Jana is a certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor and completed the 200-hour yoga teacher training. She has also completed Garuda’s Foundation Matwork, Seated and Standing, Apparatus B, Chair, Brick and Foam Roller trainings. Additionally, Jana has a bachelor’s degree in Education and a Master’s degree in Inclusive Education. Jana genuinely believes that Pilates is for everybody!

A trip to India in 2002 ignited her yoga journey, which has been fueled relentlessly by her intense interest in the human body and its capacity for movement. She was humbled by yoga’s co-mingled intensity and softness, and subsequently cultivated her interests and abilities through multiple intensive yoga immersions in India with study under senior teachers of differing lineages. Other formal trainings include the Ashtanga tradition (Bryan Cooper, Scotland), and Advanced Yoga and Therapeutics (Hart Lazer, Montreal).

Carmen’s classes reflect her studies and practices, and provide an enriching, playful, and warm experience while challenging students in both familiar and novel ways. She is excited by the interplay of yoga and pilates together, and the symbiotic relationship they create. Carmen has a BSc in Occupational Therapy and is the mother of three young children.

Ryann Pinkerton

Ryann is a movement lover with experience in fields from dance, circus and mime to Pilates, barre, and yoga over the last 15 years. Then, Ryann found love and moved to Halifax where she has been teaching Pilates and Barre classes ever since.

Ryann uses the Stott Pilates principles mixed with movement philosophies from her physical theatre explorations to create a mind-body experience like no other. She has also completed certifications in postpartum fitness and gait training to deep dive into all of the fascinating ways our bodies work. All of Ryann's classes are centered around the idea that joyful movement is the most powerful way to connect with your amazing body!
