Client Policies & Studio Information
Initial Session:

The Space: Pilates and Mindful Movement is a specialty Pilates studio. We specialize in creating individualized movement sessions for our clients. To help us evaluate your needs, we recommend that you begin with a consultation to determine the best Pilates path—private and/or group sessions— to reach your goals. Reservations, Cancellations, and Storm Policy:

All classes and private sessions are by appointment only. Reservations may be made up to 2 hours prior to the scheduled class time.

 

ONLINE BOOKING:

Online booking is the best way to ensure your spot in class. Please use the ZEN PLANNER app or member portal to reserve your spot in class.

 

CANCELLATION POLICY:

Classes must be cancelled at least 12 hours before the scheduled class time to give people on the waitlist a chance to be notified that there is a spot available. Late cancels (cancelling outside of the 12-hour window) will result in the loss of a class for class pass users. In emergency situations or if you are feeling unwell, please contact us by phone or email to cancel your class or private session.

In the event an instructor must cancel a class, we will make every attempt to find a substitute instructor. We reserve the right to cancel any class due to an emergency.

All private or group packages expire one year from the date of purchase. Packages are fully transferable but are not refundable—you may apply the value of an unused credit to another service or product at our studio for yourself or a friend.

STORM POLICY and Building Closures:

In the event of a storm or dangerous road conditions, please put your safety first. If you do not feel safe coming to class and the cancellation window has passed, please contact us at info@thespacehalifax.ca

Similarly, in stormy weather, if an instructor does not feel that they can safely make it to class, and no replacement can be found, the class may be cancelled. As we are located inside The Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts, if they decide to close the building due to inclement weather, the class will be cancelled. At those times, please check your email and/or social media an hour prior to the class start time to ensure that the class is still running.

General Studio Information and Etiquette
ARRIVAL TIME:

​Please arrive 5-15 minutes before class so that you have sufficient time to check in and get settled before the class begins.

Attendance: To achieve results from your Pilates practice, we recommend attending private sessions or group classes two to three times per week.

 

ATTIRE:

Wear comfortable, fitted exercise clothes that allow your instructor to observe and correct your form and alignment. We recommend bringing a warm cover-up as we will work with the windows open whenever possible.

For hygiene and safety, we recommend socks with “grips” on the bottom while in the studio.

 

CLASS LENGTH:

All classes are 55 minutes long.

 

CELL PHONES:

Kindly refrain from using cell phones in the studio.

 

CLEANING:

You will be guided in a detailed cleaning of the apparatus by your teacher AFTER each session using a disinfectant that has been proven to kill viruses like the Coronavirus. High-contact surfaces will be cleaned between sessions.

 

FRAGRANCE:

Many clients and instructors are sensitive to fragrances. Please avoid wearing perfumes or scents at the studio.

PARKING:

We are fortunate to have plenty of free parking available in the parking lot.

 

Masks:

Whenever the 6-foot social distancing rule cannot be maintained masks should be worn. Please wear your mask when entering the and exiting the studio. Once you are settled in your socially distanced workout space, you may remove it.

 

Props:  

All necessary Pilates props are available for your use in the studio. However, given the current situation with COVID-19, for your own comfort and safety, we recommend that you bring your own mat and a small bag of props to each class. These props will also be used in our online Zoom classes. Some items to consider investing in for your own, personalized bag of props include: a long Flex band, a mini loop band, a mini stability ball, a yoga block, a foam roller, a massage ball for your feet, a foam head cushion, a small hand towel and if you plan to participate in reformer classes, a set of personal Pilates straps.

 

Sanitize:

Please use the provided hand sanitizer before and after class.

 

Straps:

We recommend that you purchase your own personal Pilates Straps. We currently have a limited number available for purchase in the studio.

 

Touch:

We will be following a “No Touch” policy. If, for safety reasons, an instructor must come closer than the suggested 6-foot distance, they will sanitize their hands and masks should be worn by both parties.

 

Ventilation:

Weather permitting, we will open the windows to allow for fresh air circulation.

 

Water:

Please bring a bottle of water to class as the fountains are currently not available.
